Where to Find Help
UPDATED December 15, 2010
To file for a Domestic Violence Protective Order in North Carolina, go to the county courthouse in the county where you live, or where the abuser lives. Find the county court clerk and request a petition for a Domestic Violence Protective Order.
At the courthouse, the clerk will provide you with the forms that you need to file. If you need assistance filling out the form, ask the clerk for help. You will also find links to online forms at our Download Court Forms page. You may also get help with the court system through one of the domestic violence organizations listed on our NC State and Local Programs page.
