I don't want my husband to talk to me because he might talk me back into a marriage I don't want to be in. A protective order should work. He has never hurt me or threatened me, but if he talks to me he will talk me back into the marriage... I already filed an ex-parte with a Judge I know....thanks for the great support and advice. This site has been so helpful and it adds to the comfort I have felt by finding resource after resource online to help me through this tremendous battle. I felt so lost, so ashamed, dirty, alone, and so, so afraid but I have been able to check off my "to-do" list, get my life back in order...smile again. Posted on September 28 2010

I've been reading about domestic abuse on your website. I've been in denial that I'm even in such a situation but after reading about what is considered domestic violence, I can no longer be in denial. My husband fits so many of what experts say are batterer traits and I fit the victim. It's heartbreaking and demeaning for me because I let it go for so long. I'm now going to testify against him and file for divorce. No women or man deserves to be beaten humiliated or controlled in any way by the person that is supposed to love honor and protect them.... I was trying to find my sister some counseling services after she had been assaulted and was coming up empty. I emailed WomensLaw and found the person who answered my email to be extremely helpful and supportive. My sister has no health insurance and all of the places that she called had long waiting lists. WomensLaw shared several resources that I was not aware of and my sister will now be able to get the help that she needs and deserves. It's hard to be so far away from a loved one when they are hurting. I couldn't have found the assistance without ya'lls help. WomensLaw even checked in with me numerous times to make sure that my sister was OK. WomensLaw is really someone special. I work as a social worker in the Boston area and rarely come across people like you! Posted on December 9 2009

I wouldn't have made it w/out you all, especially you and your kind words of encouragement/compassion/concern. I thank you for all of the time you took to help me, for all that you did for me, words can never express how grateful I am. I just have a feeling I will be ok. I've had a feeling all along, whether its faith or whatever it is. I've been thru a lot in my life and I feel like I can get thru this.

I just wanted to express that I love you guys and I don't even know you. I just submitted some questions, but I have been following your site for years. Whoever wrote it did an EXCELLENT METICULOUS and SENSITIVE job explaining some pertinent details regarding domestic issues in a way that most women can understand. Thank you so much to those writers and editors. XXOO Posted on December 1 2009
