Domestic Violence & Child Advocacy Center
Domestic Violence Child Advocacy Center (DVCAC) provides services to victims and survivors of domestic violence, child abuse, teen dating violence, and stalking. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, justice system advocacy, crisis intervention/safety planning, support groups, educational classes, and individual therapy for individuals who have experienced domestic violence. They also provide services to individuals who have experienced child abuse, teen dating violence and stalking. DVCAC serves Cuyahoga County.
West Side Catholic Center
West Side Catholic Center offers hot meals, hospitality, clothing and household goods, emergency services, advocacy, a family shelter, and a housing solutions program to those in need at no charge, regardless of religious affiliation. Interpreting and Translation Services provides 24/7 expert interpreters for the Asian community to hospitals, social services agencies, police departments, courts, and schools as well as other public and private organizations in Central Ohio. CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence
The mission of CHOICES is to interrupt the cycle of intimate partner domestic violence in the Columbus community and advocate for social change. CHOICES is the primary direct service provider to families experiencing domestic violence, providing counseling, shelter, crisis intervention, education, community and legal support as well as advocacy to central Ohio residents. Ohio Domestic Violence Resource Center
The Ohio Domestic Violence Network (ODVN) believes that ending violence against women and children requires connection with organizations and individuals to create a clear vision and collective voice for social and systemic change. First Step is a healthy family resource center serving Wood, Wyandot, Seneca, Sandusky, and Hancock counties in Northwest Ohio. First Step Healthy Family Resource Center has provided shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children, 24-hour support line, advocacy, and outreach and support programs for men, women, and children.
Open Arms Domestic Violence Shelter & Rape Crisis Services
The Shelter Program provides 30-day emergency stay for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children. The location is confidential, allowing for increased client safety during their stay. Any adult or child who lives or works in Hancock County and is a survivor of domestic violence or sexual assault is eligible to stay at the shelter with their immediate family. Open Arms shelter is the only one in Hancock County that provides immediate, temporary housing for survivors of domestic violence or sexual assault and their children 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Genesis House has Legal Advocates who work in the shelter and the Lorain County Municipal Courts to assist victims of domestic violence who have filed criminal charges against their abusers. Advocates explain the process and the victims’ rights and responsibilities in the case, as well as accompany people to court during their case or to get protection orders.
